The City of Port Moody is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the position of Auxiliary Facilities Maintenance Workers.  These are entry level positions working with Senior Facilities Maintenance Workers, and under the direction of the Facilities Support Services Supervisor, supporting ice and pools. 

This position provides building and equipment maintenance and janitorial services to the curling rink, arenas and pools (including ice making and cleaning) to ensure facility and public safety and security.  The Facilities Maintenance Worker also deals with public inquiries within the recreation facilities and may also assist with preventative maintenance in the Facilities HVAC systems.  This position includes duties that require heavy physical effort and require the ability to provide excellent service to the public.

This position requires flexibility to support a variety of events and shift coverage, and may work day, evening and weekend shifts.

Please note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory police information check and a satisfactory driver's abstract.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 education and 2-3 years of related experience
  • Experience with janitorial procedures, equipment and safety and experience ensuring proper procedures are followed
  • Experience and knowledge of ice equipment and ice maintenance, including installation
  • Experience with maintenance of pool facilities and equipment, including pool start up and shut down
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence
  • Building Service Worker certification
  • Ice Facility Operator (IFO) certification or higher
  • Certification as a Pool Operator II
  • Fall Protection / confined spaces training 
  • Certificates in progress may be considered
