The Facilities Support Services Supervisor will perform supervisory and operational work overseeing and participating in the maintenance, cleaning and daily operation of the arenas, curling rink, community centres and outdoor pools.  

This regular, full-time position will participate in and delegate work assignments and will supervise a team of Facilities Maintenance Workers to ensure safe work practices and excellent customer service.

This is a Monday-Friday, daytime shift position. 

This position is responsible for the operation and proper maintenance of the ammonia arena refrigeration plant and the pool mechanical systems and associated safety systems.  The Supervisor liaises with Recreation and other departments to support facility user programs, particularly at the arena and pool.

Basic Qualifications:

•    Completion of Grade 12 education as well as leadership or supervisory skills course(s) 
•    Minimum 3 - 5 years job related experience, including minimum 3 years of experience with the in/out ice cycle and opening and closing of outdoor pools and minimum one year of experience supervising staff, including those in formal leadership positions (ie: lead hand, shift supervisor) as well as managing on site contractor coordination. Thorough experience with refrigeration and pool mechanical systems is required.
•    Refrigeration Operator Certification and Chlorine Gas Safe Handling Certificate
•    A valid Class 5 driver's license 
•    Pool Operator I and II Certification 
•    Curl BC Technician Level 1 and 2 Certification  
•    Building Service Worker Certificate 
•    Courses in artificial ice-making and maintenance for arenas and curling rinks 
•    Experience and knowledge of cleaning and janitorial procedures 
•    Minimum of 1 year working in an administrative setting, and using MS Office programs, maintenance management software, building automation software 
•    Experience prioritizing and scheduling work and training, and responsibility for staff safety
•    Experience trouble shooting equipment and systems and with general building maintenance
•    Knowledge in and familiarity with facility policies and procedures and with facility programs
