The Port Moody Community Services Department is seeking a dynamic, personable, and experienced creative writing instructor to lead weekly sessions at Kyle Center. 

Program Overview:

Creative Writing Workshop – Ages 18 & Up

This enriching program is designed to provide critique, information, and support for both emerging and experienced writers. Writers of all genres—fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, and more—are welcome. Participants may bring a sample of their writing to the first class, though it is not required.

Position Summary:

The Creative Writing Instructor will lead weekly workshops that foster a supportive and constructive environment for adult writers. The instructor will guide group discussions, offer feedback, and provide writing exercises and resources to help participants improve their craft.

Key Responsibilities:

-Facilitate engaging and inclusive writing workshops.
-Provide constructive critique and guidance to participants.
-Encourage creative exploration across genres.
-Prepare weekly lesson plans and writing prompts.
-Foster a respectful and collaborative classroom atmosphere.
-Track attendance and communicate with recreation staff as needed.

Qualifications:

-Degree or equivalent experience in Creative Writing, English, or related field.
-Experience teaching or facilitating writing workshops.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to work with diverse adult learners.
-Familiarity with multiple writing genres and critique methods.
