Job Description I.S. Systems Analyst I

The City of Port Moody is seeking an efficient and customer service oriented I.S. Systems Analyst I to fill a temporary, full-time opportunity for approximately one year.

Reporting to the I.S. Applications Supervisor, the I.S. System Analyst analyzes, maintains, designs and improves the City's Maintenance Management system.  The successful candidate will assess the suitability of systems in terms of their intended outcomes and liaise with end users, software vendors and other I.S. staff in order to achieve these outcomes.  The successful candidate will have a keen sense of accuracy, logic and have an ability to communicate complex ideas to others. 

Responsibilities: 

•  Assist with design and development of solutions (may include database interfaces) 
•  Maintain and upgrade existing systems as required
•  Train end users
•  Create system guidelines and manuals
•  Conduct regular reviews of systems and generate reports on efficiencies and improvement areas

Please note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Police Information Check and also a satisfactory Driver's Abstract

Basic Qualifications:

•  A two year technical diploma, preferably including training in Microsoft SQL programming, and two years of programming experience in a complex, multi-system business environment. 
•  Strong understanding of business processes, data structures and system relationships 
•  Experience with relational databases and programming algorithms 
•  Experience with Maintenance Connection or other maintenance management systems is an asset  
•  Excellent communication and documentation skills 
•  Demonstrated ability to apply independent judgement
